The office in Oslo was established in 1917 under the name of Intertransport Limited A/S, and was one of the most esteemed freight forwarding companies in Norway.
In the 1980s, the firm was acquired by the shipping company Wilh. Wilhelmsen, and Håkull Frakt was incorporated into the group. Håkull was the first company in Norway to utilise container freight trains for domestic carriage. This has been continued, and currently Cargo Partner is one of the major operators in the domestic rail freight sector. This is part of Cargo Partner's green profile and strategy.
At the end of the 1980s, the company was called Wilh. Wilhelmsen Transport AS. In 1990, Ivar S. Alsaker took control of the freight forwarding companies within the Wilh. Wilhelmsen Group, and on the 01.01.90, Cargo Partner AS became the new company name.
